February Thought for the Month
"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."
~ Confucius
I just came in from shoveling snow for the second time today, so this quote is especially fitting for me. My message for February is to keep going, focus on getting closer to your goal rather than how long it's taking. Because, like the falling snow, the things on your to do list will continue to pile up. Something else always comes along that has to be done sooner or later. And if you think too much about the load, your perception of it can become so warped that it feels as if it is too much. That makes it easy to procrastinate until the perception becomes reality.
In the case of snowfall, it might seem sensible to wait until the storm is over to shovel, but trust me it's a LOT easier to move snow when dealing with inches than with feet of it. So go at your tasks, your goals, all the to dos in your life like they are a winter storm. Work on what you can when you can and count your accomplishments, not how far you did or didn't get. Lots of little wins are just as good as, if not better than, a few big ones.
