November Thought of the Month
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
~ Leo Buscaglia
During the heatwave this past summer, people left bottled water in coolers for delivery people to help them get through the harsh weather. They have paid for gas and groceries to help others less fortunate. With a smile or a compliment, they do what they can to brighten a stranger's day. Every act of kindness is remembered and leads to marvelous effects.
Think of the life stories told by celebrities. Every one mentions someone who said or did something to help them or encourage them, setting them or keeping them on the path that led them to success.
This is true for all of us. Not everyone reaches the same level of success as the rich and famous, but we are all better off for the acts of kindness others have shown us. In some cases what seems like an insignificant act can do wonders, even save lives.
Take time to remember the people who were the positive influences in your life and what they did or said to help you. Then pay it forward. Be the light in others' dark days. Don't underestimate the power of kindness. Who knows how far our smiles will reach.
