June Thought of the Month

"The future you see is the future you get."

~ Robert G. Allen

Whenever you walk by construction sites, you'll see a sign showing what will eventually stand there. I especially like comparing the sign's image with the work in progress and watching the architect's vision become reality over time. Like these buildings and courtyards, anything we create must start with a vision.

A clear vision of what we want to achieve makes it easier to plan its achievement. It may start in your head but don't leave it there. Putting the image of what you desire in the real world is the first step on the road to completion. Some people assemble what they call vision boards. They provide a physical focus and reminder they can use on a daily basis to help them keep their goals front of mind.

The risk of failure comes when something distracts us from that goal. It could be as simple as a chance to watch your favorite movie when you planned to clean house. Life is full of distractions that can cause us to drift off the course we set to meet our goals. It's up to us to make sure these disruptions don't detour us for long or too often.

Vision boards, to do lists, thought exercises, time management. Use whatever methods work for you to keep your vision of the future active and progressing. Do not focus on what won't improve your chances of success.
